March 24, 2024 - Where Do You Place Your Trust?

  1. Jesus asks Mary if she believes that He is the resurrection and the life. In what way is he challenging Mary's placement of trust?

  2. Michael asked you to choose one of four gifts. How did you answer change on the basis of context. What is the difference between wanting something and wanting something to trust in?

  3. Passion week is a week to reflect on Who Jesus is, what He has done, and to ask yourself whether you have truly placed your trust in Him. Many of the Jews saw Jesus as an exciting fad. In what ways do we treat Jesus as a fad? What are other temporal things in which we have misplaced our trust?

  4. The Pharisees rejected Jesus because they had learned to trust in themselves. How is this seen in today’s DIY culture of trust? Have you ever relied on your own efforts as your primary source of trust?

  5. In Peter we find the reality that the depth of our trust is most precisely measured in times of darkness. What have dark seasons of life revealed about the depth of your trust in Jesus?

  6. In the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus we see the promise made to Jacob fulfilled. The name "God of Jacob" was always used to call God's people to trust in what only God can do. "Do you trust fully in Me" has always been God's challenge to His people. Passion week is a week that looks forward to HIs promise being fulfilled and a time for us to ask ourselves this central question. Where am I placing my trust?

  1. What stood out to you from the message about the importance of trusting the Bible as God's Word?

  2. What doubts or questions about the accuracy of the Bible have you heard or wrestled with?

  3. How have you overcome these doubts?

  4. What were some of the pieces of evidence that exist that speak to the reliability of the Bible?

  5. How can understanding the reliability and truth of the Bible affect how you approach important life issues, such as relationships, morality, and worldview?

  6. Discuss the idea of living under the authority of Scripture. How does this concept challenge or inform the way we approach various aspects of life?
