December 1, 2024 - Our Promised Prophet

  1. What "voice" are you listening to and who are you "following" in life? How do you think people today would answer that question?

  2. How do the examples of Old Testament Prophets show us the role they played in Israel's history? Which ones are you more familiar with?

  3. How did Jesus become a better prophet than each of them?

  4. Moses prophesied that a better prophet would come. What did Israel do in the waiting time? What did the world do in the waiting time? How do people today fill their waiting with listening to and following false idols?

  5. Why is it important to see Jesus as the answer to this prophecy? In Hebrews Jesus is said to be the exact imprint of God. Why should we trust Jesus' voice and follow His way?

  6. How does Jesus answering over 300 prophecies build confidence to listen to His voice above all others?

  7. How has Jesus promised to be our personal prophet, and walk with us through life?

  8. How can you celebrate Jesus this week by reading and talking through many of His Christmas Prophecies. Which are your favorite?

December 8, 2024 - Our Promised King

  1. Today’s worship set list: This is Amazing Grace, His Name is Wonderful, Shout to the Lord, Goodness of God, His Name is Jesus, and Doxology (Amen). All of these songs proclaim the power and glory of the King of Kings. But do you always worship Jesus for all of who He is?

  2. David begins Psalm 24 with an invocation acknowledging the greatness of the LORD. How is this greatness demonstrated in the title of "Lion of Judah"?

  3. How is standing in the presence of a powerful Lion similar to standing in the presence of the King of Glory?

  4. How is the King of Glory set apart from all other kings? How do verses 3-6 lay this out? Talk through the Humble King, Righteous King, and Victorious King. How does this set Jesus apart from all other Kings?

  5. Semper Fi to the King of Glory. How does the oath of Semper Fi define, “Always faithful”? How are the gifts of the Magi an expression of our worship to Jesus? Always faithful, in every way, with everything.

December 15, 2024 - Our Promised Priest

  1. Zac talked about what life as a high priest was like. What part of their life was new for you to learn? What ritual or practice did they do that you would find difficult?

  2. What does Jesus being our high priest mean for us? How does that impact the way you live?

  3. What is something you feel challenged to do or change in response to knowing that Jesus stands as your connection to the God of the universe?

December 22, 2024 - Our Promised Savior

  1. There is no greater news than the gospel. Jesus was born to be the savior of the world. Can you imagine never having heard the name of Jesus? Today we will walk through the history of humanity and see Jesus’ name woven throughout time.

  2. Humanity’s history starts with us being in need of a savior. How does Genesis 3:15 set up our need that has run throughout time?

  3. Genesis 5 clearly presents the gospel. Man’s desperate position and our need for a savior. How was this purpose projected by the prophets through time?

  4. Genesis 22 is a picture of how the savior will resolve the problem of our unrighteousness. How is this depicted throughout the Old Testament?

  5. Psalm 22 shows the humble work of a King giving his life for His people. How does this foreshadow Jesus on the cross.

  6. The word “salvation” is found throughout the Old Testament. Talk through Psalm 96:2 and how it not only lays out the gospel but also names the savior.

  7. Matthew 1:20-21 solidifies the thread of our savior that ran through all of time. Why is Jesus’ name so significant?

  8. How should we respond to the work of our savior and truly receive Him as prophet, priest, and king?
