Read Psalm 46:1-3. What is the one key idea being presented by the Psalmist.
What does "refuge" mean to you? Put words to it and share it with the group.

In Psalm 46:7 we are told, "The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress". How does the knowledge of God's presence provide peace in your life?

Michael regards Psalm 1 as his family Psalm. It was given to him as he left for college and is passed on to his kids as they grow and begin living life on their own. Do you remember any advice given to you as you began living life more on your own?
Psalm 1:1 calls us to evaluate the influences in our lives. As you think about the number of hours you spend awake and the predominance of negative influences you surround yourself with, is it a surprise that it can be a struggle to think and live faithfully?
How does learning to dwell in the Word change the influences in your waking hours? Have you ever had scripture follow you in your day and impact the way you responded to life?
